Text:

The earth is our mother. What befalls the earth befalls all the children of the earth. This we know: The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth. Attributed to Chief Seattle

Artist’s Comments:

The text is from a 1972 ecology film, screen written by Professor Ted Perry and ascribed to the 19th century orator and diplomat Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe in Washington State. The medicine wheels within the text represent the Earth's four directions, four seasons and four races.
