The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22

Artist’s Comments:

From the Sermon on the Mount, this is of course a metaphor: Poor vision has nothing to do with personal holiness. What Jesus is saying here, I believe, is that the object of our desires, what we fix our eyes upon, is what we tend to persue . . . for good or bad.
